Brief

Now an independent industry observer, for nearly 14 years, Neal Polachek was Director of Research and Consulting, VP of Advisory Services, CEO of The Kelsey Group and President of BIA/Kelsey. During his tenure at Kelsey/BIA he directed the company’s team of industry analysts, who collectively covered the ever changing and highly dynamic global local media industry. Polachek was also responsible for identifying new opportunities for expanding BIA/Kelsey’s local media coverage. Under his leadership BIA/Kelsey launched advisory services focused on local search, verticals, mobile and social media. Polachek joined The Kelsey Group just as the Internet was beginning to affect traditional local media. He led the company’s foray into developing proprietary research initiatives that deliver a comprehensive and informed view of the local media and advertising sector. Polachek also managed and participated in BIA/Kelsey’s client consulting assignments and has been the project leader on numerous local search, directory and emerging business projects, conducting market assessment studies and financial forecasts and evaluating and building business models. In addition, he has conducted numerous due diligence projects on behalf of investors, private equity and strategic buyers. Prior to joining BIA/Kelsey in the late 1990s, Polachek worked for a decade at Pacific Telesis Group (now AT&T) in a wide variety of management and leadership positions. He spent nearly a year selling Yellow Pages advertising to small and medium-sized businesses throughout the Bay Area. Polachek speaks regularly at industry events in the United States and around the world. He holds a B.A. in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles and an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California. Specialties: Interactive Local Media and Commerce
